Series How Hewlett-Packard Optimizes the Use of Scarce R&D Resources 4:00 p.m., April 23, 2004 at OCATE Despite spending almost $4 billion annually on R&D, HP can't possibly cover all of its fields of business interest. Thus a core strategy is to innovate where it can make a difference and partner for the rest. Determining the best places to focus resources can generate a superior financial return. This lecture evaluates how the portfolio management process guides decision making and resource allocation at the highest levels of the corporation.
