Engineering and Technology Management Series

Yield Management in Semiconductor Manufacturing

Summarizing three broadly-based studies conducted at International sematech and MIT Sloan School of Management between 1996 and 2003, Weber will focus on three high-level conclusions: accelerated yield learning constitutes key profitability sources; difficulties in knowledge transfer between individuals and organizations limit profitability; and solving problems before they occur form competitive advantage.

About Charles Weber:

Current: Asssistant Professor, Department of Engineering and Technology Management, Portland State University

Ph.D: Management, MIT Sloan School of Business

Charles Weber worked 15 years for Hewlett-Packard Company and has experience in IC manufacturing and process development, electron beam lithography, parametric testing, microelectronic test structures, photomask design, clean room layout and yield management. His current research includes organizational learning, problem solving, knowledge management, innovation and entrepreneurship.
